Frequently asked questions

How do I play?
Touch a star, slide along the faint lines from star to star to spell a word, then lift your finger. Words need at least three letters, and you can only move along the lines. Every real word lights the lines it passes along; light every line to complete the constellation. Any real word in your word language counts, so there is never just one answer. To see the three short lessons again, open Settings › How to play.
Why was my word not accepted?
A word must have at least three letters, follow the lines without jumping between stars, and be in the dictionary of your word language. Very rare words, names and offensive words are left out. A word you have already found does not count again, unless you trace it along a different path that lights new lines.
What are bonus words and the wish jar?
A real word that lights no new lines is a bonus word. Bonus words fill your wish jar, and a full jar gives you stardust.
How do hints work?
Two hints are there when you need them. Glimmer makes the stars glow to show where a hidden word begins and which way it goes. Comet lights up a whole word for you. Hints are paid with stardust, and they always point to a word that still has unlit lines, so a constellation never gets stuck.
How do I get stardust?
You earn stardust by completing constellations and chapters, solving Tonight’s Sky, claiming your daily gift, passing through golden wishing stars and filling your wish jar. You can also watch an optional short video for free stardust, or buy a stardust pack in the Shop. Stardust has no value outside the game.
How do I change the language?
Open Settings. Word language sets the language of the words in the puzzles, and App language sets the language of the menus. You can choose them separately, for example to practise a language you are learning.
When do ads appear?
There are no banners, and ads never interrupt a puzzle. After the first levels, a short ad may appear between constellations from time to time, never after every level. Videos that double a reward or give free stardust are optional and only play when you choose them. Remove Ads, the Starter bundle and Starwort Plus turn off the ads between levels.
How do I restore my purchases?
Open the Shop and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. This brings back Remove Ads, the Starter bundle’s ad removal and an active Starwort Plus subscription on a new device or after reinstalling the game. Stardust that has been spent, or lost along with your progress, cannot be restored.
What is Starwort Plus?
Starwort Plus is an optional monthly subscription: while it is active, there are no ads between levels and your daily gifts are doubled. The price is shown in the Shop before you confirm, and the subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it. See the Terms of Use for details.
How do I manage or cancel Starwort Plus?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Starwort Plus and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to stop the next renewal; you keep the benefits until the period ends. Deleting the game does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I reset my progress?
Open Settings, tap Reset progress and confirm. This permanently erases your levels, your Sky Atlas and your stardust on this device. Your settings and your purchases are kept.
Will I lose my progress if I delete the game or change phones?
Your progress is saved on your device, not in an online account. Deleting the game deletes it, unless you restore a device backup that includes it, such as an iCloud Backup. Purchases can always be restored with the same Apple Account.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Starwort plays fully offline. Ads, purchases and restoring purchases need a connection.
Can I turn off the music or the sounds?
Yes. Settings has separate controls for music, nature sounds, sound effects and star melodies, as well as haptics and reduce motion. Starwort follows your device’s silent mode and can play alongside your own music.
