Sunturn

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026

This policy explains how the Sunturn mobile game ("Sunturn", "the app") handles information. Sunturn is made by Furkan Kaya ("I", "me"). The short version: Sunturn has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your progress stays on your device and, on iPhone, in your own iCloud. The app sends anonymous usage statistics to PostHog so I can see which parts of the game work, and Google serves the ads that keep the game free.

Information stored on your device

Sunturn saves your game progress locally on your device: completed levels, stars, hints, snowflakes, the outfits you own, your daily puzzle streak and quests, your settings, and a cache of generated levels. On iPhone this progress is also copied to your iCloud account (see below) so it survives a reinstall or a new phone; on Android, Android's own app backup may include it in your Google account backup. I cannot read either copy.

Information I collect

I do not collect your name, email address, contacts, precise location or any other information that identifies you, and there is no sign-in. The only data I receive is the anonymous usage statistics described below. If you email me for support, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and I use it only to reply to you.

Anonymous usage statistics (PostHog)

To understand how the game is played and to fix what doesn't work, the app sends usage events to PostHog, an analytics service. The data is stored on PostHog's servers in the European Union and is tied only to a random identifier created on your device, not to your name, Apple ID or advertising identifier. It includes:

  • Game events, such as levels started and finished, stars, hints used, daily puzzles, quests, the sun chest and outfits
  • Ad events: whether an ad was offered, watched or finished (not what the ad was)
  • Whether you allowed reminder notifications, and when you open the app from one
  • App and device information such as app version, device model, operating system and language, and an approximate country derived from your IP address

PostHog processes this data on my behalf under PostHog's Privacy Policy. You can turn it off at any time in the app: Settings → "Share anonymous usage data".

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Sunturn shows ads using Google AdMob: an occasional full-screen ad between levels, and optional rewarded ads you can choose to watch for rewards such as hints, snowflakes, a bigger sun chest, a past daily puzzle or saving your streak. To serve and measure these ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

  • Device and advertising identifiers (the IDFA on iOS, only if you allow tracking; the Advertising ID on Android)
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it
  • Device information such as model, operating system and language
  • Ad interactions, such as ads viewed and tapped
  • Diagnostic and performance data for the ads

This data is collected and processed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. You can learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience (rated PG or lower).

In-app purchases

Sunturn may offer optional in-app purchases, for example to remove ads. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google with your store account. I never receive your name, card or payment details: the store only tells the app which item was bought, and the app keeps that record on your device so the purchase can be restored.

Apple services (iCloud and Game Center)

iCloud. On iPhone and iPad, your progress is saved to your iCloud account using Apple's key-value storage, so it follows your Apple ID to a new device. It is stored by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy and I have no access to it. You can turn off iCloud for Sunturn in Settings → [your name] → iCloud.

Game Center. If you are signed in to Game Center, the app submits your daily puzzle result and your total stars to Game Center leaderboards, where other players can see them next to your Game Center nickname. This is handled by Apple; you can manage it in Settings → Game Center.

Reminder notifications

If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders on your device (for example when a new daily puzzle is ready). They are created entirely on your phone; no push server is involved and no notification data leaves your device. You can turn them off in the app's Settings or in your phone's notification settings.

Your choices

  • Tracking on iOS. On iOS the app asks for permission before your advertising identifier can be used to show personalized ads. You can play the whole game if you decline, and you can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. If you are in a region where consent is required, the app shows Google's consent form before ads load. You can review or change your choices at any time with the shield button on the home screen.
  • Android. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your device).
  • Usage statistics. Turn off "Share anonymous usage data" in the app's Settings to stop sending analytics events.
  • Reminders. Turn off "Reminders" in the app's Settings, or turn off notifications for Sunturn in your phone's settings.

Children

Sunturn is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support email, contact me and I will delete it.

Data retention and deletion

Game data lives on your device, and on iPhone in your iCloud, until you delete the app or remove it from iCloud. Anonymous usage statistics are kept only as long as they are useful for improving the game. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you; you can ask me to delete them at any time. For data held by Google or Apple, see their privacy controls linked above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, KVKK or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. The usage statistics are not linked to your identity, so the simplest way to object is the switch in Settings. Ad data is managed by Google through the choices above. For anything else, email me.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
